Day 9 – Jolivet to Scottburgh Golf Club
This is now “Sage 9” named after our new sponsors. It is a champagne stage where everyone rides in their national colours and everyone gets the same time.
It is still a proper day with some fast sugar cane lanes, and some sweet trails. The Isuzu low-range climb in Vernon Crookes is lekker little test of character. It is a gnarly climb that gets rockier toward the end.
The pace to water point 2 through sugar cane fields and bush is fast even though a neutral day.
The ending to Scottburgh Golf Club is right on the sea. Try not to fall into the lagoon on the floating bridge!
Take a moment to breath in the fresh sea air and to reflect on the past 9 days. Heeeee Ha! Take a few selfies or group pics on the beach before making your way to Scottburgh Golf Club for a celebration of your journey across South Africa.Read more
The coastal town of Scottburgh is an iconic beach venue for many South Africans. The town is alive with holiday makers and locals who thrive on small businesses. There are some great schools, great hotels and country clubs. This is the first year we will finish at the Scottburgh Golf Club.
The town of Scottburgh is transformed financially over sani2c and joberg2c due to some good outside cash coming into the town. There is normally not a single hotel room or guest house to be found. For three weeks the outsiders flood in an contribute to the hustle and bustle of Scottburgh.
The golf club members have graciously relinquished their golf course to make your finish extra special. We thank them for their vision. The finish should provide another awesome community inspired ending to what is a remarkable journey.
